From the sea

Today's (back blip) view is of the walled town of Saint-Malo, the Intra Muros.

During the second world war the US Army shelled the walled city relentlessly and reduce much of it to rubble. After the war the French were so horrified that they decided to rebuild it more or less as it used to be. The result is a very stern and high consistent looking granite town surrounded by a very significant stone wall. The spire of the cathedral was completed in 1971 and was one of the last parts of to be rebuilt. In summer the place is full of tourists and you can hear every language you can imagine, in winter the it's mostly locals, but even then there are always people visiting.

The picture is a bit of a cheat as it wasn't taken from the sea in reality but from beach, but in such a way that there was water between me and the walls to make it look like it was taken from the sea.
