Piston, Pen & Press

Unplanned trip to Verdant Works for an evening of poems written by mill workers, set to music and performed by Finlay Napier & Gillian Frame. 

The performance is part of a wider research project and it was interesting to hear about the history behind each piece.

The setting was wonderfully apt - we were in the high mill sat underneath pictures of the (predominantly female) mill workers.

Evening ended fittingly with rendition of the Jute Mill Song. 

Great evening (and all the more so for being unplanned #joysofretirement).
