Batman
This Hoverfly does not have a common name but my book says some of the markings remind people of the Batman symbol.
It is fairly distinctive and I am reasonably certain that it is Myathropa florea. It is said to be widespread but I don’t believe I have blipped it before.
My extra is, I hope, the beginning of a series of fruit and nut blips. No not chocolate bars. Being chocosnobs we don’t eat anything under 70%.
We have had wonderful blip flowers all summer and it is time to move on.
This first shot has two things to see. The red ones are Rosehips, familiar to all who as children were given Rosehip Syrup.
The green ones are the fruit of Black Briony. In the coming weeks they will turn jet black. They are very poisonous.
