The good old Date and Lemon Scones
It was a bit of a baking type day today and nothing gets the taste buds going like the good old Date and Lemon Scones. They were featured on the first Masterchef series 10 years ago and I think I’ve made a few hundred of them over the past decade :). The only way to eat them is with lashings of blackberry jam and real whipped cream (none of this fluffy stuff out of an atomiser!!). Sadly the planned visit from our guests didn’t eventuate as our friend is quite unwell. Good thing about these scones, they really freeze very well. We’re off to Rydal tomorrow with the photo group, I just hope the wind is kind to us. We can cope with a bit of rain but the wind can be quite a deal breaker. Anyway, I know if nothing else we’ll have a yummy lunch!!
