Le Detectoriste

I don't know if that is the right word in French. I think I'm right in saying that in France you aren't automatically allowed to photograph people on the public domain. So I asked him if he could snap him and he said yes. But after three shots he scouted and said that was enough. But he then started chatting, having worked out that I was English ( is my French accent really that obvious?!*). 

He then showed me pictures on his phone of all the treasures he has found on the beach, including substantial gold signet rings. I didn't ask him whether he hands them into the gendarmerie or keeps them. 

It's clearly quite a fruitful hobby by the sea in summertime.
