September 8 - Ladybower
We drove to Ladybower Reservoir on a glorious day only to find a couple of other people had had the same idea - car park horror story but persistence paid off. We had a lovely walk, an ice cream and then at the precise moment I put the camera back in the car 4 WW2 planes flew over the dam. Oh well..
We drove back via Snake Pass, Woodhead Pass and Holme Moss - always a jaw-dropping drive but on a day like today I don't think there are many better drives in the world. Right on the top of Snake Pass we came across a wedding party taking photos among all the wonderful peaks, sky and nothingness - how wonderful. A few hundred yards further on you turn the corner to start the long descent and among all the different coloured peaks stretching into the distance you can see the whole of Manchester. Today the tall buildings in the centre were glinting in the sun. It's hard to keep one's eyes on the road.
The boys have enjoyed the Grand Prix today - rain was forecast and they ended up paying 80 euros for two rain ponchos. It was sunny all day.
