The Battle of the Boxes, cont'd...
We are doing a serial kitchen remodel with Dana and Jim. Dana's started last week, and ours will start as soon as theirs finishes at the end of the month. It will be nice to actually have places to put things in the kitchen (and because it is also our living room, it will also be nice to make a few aesthetic improvements.)
OilMan made the last trip to the farmhouse today, so we are officially out of there, which means...more boxes, more stuff to get rid of, more stuff to find places for. As I was going through one of these boxes this afternoon, I was musing about paint colors and hardware for the kitchen when all of a sudden it hit me...OMG! It's all going to have to go BACK INTO BOXES! Dana took most of our boxes for her kitchen--looks like we aren't done with them yet...
The bookshelf in the blip is a hybrid combination of a table from the flat pack emporium and some bookshelves which we had made 10 or 12 years ago. At the time they were made we were also contemplating moving (the idea has been there for years, but we never quite pulled it off for one reason or abother) so they are boxes which can be put together in various combinations. They are supposed to hold books, which are still in the garage, but are rapidly filling up with all manner of things. There must be an adage to the effect of "...if you create a space , (or a shelf, or a cupboard, or a box) it will become instantly filled..." The trick is to be ruthless about what is allowed within the house, and what must be never be allowed over the threshold. I can already think of a number of things that have made the trip up and down the stairs to the garage several times....
