Watching flowers in the rain...

... turned out to be much more successful than photographing them yesterday in brilliant sunshine.

I decided yesterday to visit the annual dahlia display in the Valley Gardens, but the contrast from the bright sunlight didn't produce the sort of image I wanted. 

In today's dull and persistent drizzle, I much preferred the results, even though I had to juggle camera and umbrella. The other advantage was the lack of other people pushing and shoving to photograph the same blooms on their mobile phones - not a soul around today.
