WASPI
Penny has been elected as the prospective Labour Party parliamentary candidate for the Hexham Constituency.
At the next General Election, she will be up against the sitting Conservative MP, Guy Opperman, who is also the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Pensions.
Penny is a WASPI woman (Woman Against State Pension Inequality) and was adversely affected at very short notice (as were hundreds of thousands of woman born in the 1950’s) when the pension age for woman was changed from 60 to 65.
Mr Opperman has suggested that woman born in the 1950’s should take up apprenticeship opportunities.
Penny wrote to Mr Opperman about 18 months ago asking for an apprenticeship. She has yet to receive a response ...
