Talyllyn Railway
We had an exciting day out in Wales today.
First of all we drove down to Barmouth and after a coffee and a wander round we caught the regular train, across Barmouth bridge down to Tywyn. It was then the short walk to the Talyllyn narrow gauge railway which advertises itself as the world's first preserved railway. Here we boarded the steam train and travelled up to Dolgoch, walked up to the waterfall and then, after a picnic, returned on the steam train back to Tywyn for more coffee and a quick walk around the museum although it would have been good to spend longer there.
From here we caught the regular train to Fairbourne and walked the three miles back to Barmouth over the footbridge alongside the railway. We rounded this up with fish and chips at the harbour before driving home. Not a bad day out.
The main picture shows a train pulling away from Dolgoch station while the extra shows the regular train crossing the Barmouth viaduct.
