Expanding

My second hospital visit of the week was to Southampton University Hospital’s city General Hospital.
A long way removed from the comparative intimacy of the smaller New Forest Hospital at Lymington yesterday.
And the General is still growing! The grassed entrance area with tiered steps and seating has become a building site.
It is all part of a £22 million development to extend the hospital still more to extend its intensive care facilities and outpatient areas.
Clearly I have nothing but praise for the skill and expertise of the hospital’s cardiac unit where I spent a few weeks a couple of years ago. But the hospital is already so huge I felt I needed my phone ready and Google maps at hand to find my way around.
