Another day at the office
Building monuments to pull them down
And hoping to cause no offence
Well, perhaps a mild frown
From travellers passing through the town
Or there may be a limpid smile
Or even a laugh (but not in bad taste)
And so move on another mile
Passing by the milestone recast
From the half remembered, half forgotten
Words and faces, imagined and unwritten
