Jack Burgess's Yosemite. Valley RR
After leaving San Francisco, we stoped to visit this HO layout. Mr Burgess has been widely published in the model railroad hobby press. The layout lives in his garage - the car is outside. He has hand laid all the track (individual wood ties and rail), and scratch built over 100 structures from actual old photographs along the railroad - long gone. Much of his rolling stock is scratch built as well. His scenery is based on photos from the real site. It is 1939 as I remember. Everything he has on the layout existed then. Truly a work of art. The real railroad ran from Merced to the entrance of Yosemite National Park. Amazing work.
