Back to Serenissima - Venice day 1

Taxi booked for 3am but arrived at 02:40 (couldn’t sleep in case the alarm didn’t go off!). Arrived at Manchester at 04:10. Quick bag drop and up to Giraffe for an extremely early breakfast of Eggs Benedict with (hangs head in shame) aperol spritz on the side! Boarded at 07:00 for the 07:30 flight, but delayed by 30 minutes as too much air traffic over Italy. Prosecco on board! Soon made up time and landed early. Big queues for the Alilaguna, but arrived at the hotel by 1pm. Greeted like a long lost friend by the lovely owners, then taken to our room in the old annexe we stayed in when the “Ladies that travel” first came here in 2013. Rest of day spent walking miles to show the main sights to son who has never been before - also involved much more aperol spritz and pizza. Early night now as we are all worn out. Forecast is for the weather to be scorchio for the next week. :-)). Love being back!
