Not my style
I love all the things in the photo...the almost dead flowers I am saving for seeds, the mug, the little poetry book, the doily and the light coming through the curtain. But when I try to put it all together for a photo it just does not come out like I think it should. I moved things, took away things, added a couple more, took photos from every direction which was hard as there is a big trailer for hauling the ATV in the yard right outside this window. But this is the last day for the styled photo portion of the Month of Multiples with Kim Klassen. Thankful for that.
Next week is Self Portraits...can you see me rolling on the floor laughing. This is going to be lots of camera in the face, feet, hands, back of the head shots!
I know that I have learned much doing this styling class besides that it is not my thing. I learned that people who do styled shots have a dedicated space with a few great little tables and chairs or a room just for photographing styled shots. And probably a tripod with an overhead extension to shoot flatlays (I have managed to get up and down off the chair even with the healing ankle!). I learned my house is too cluttered and I have been thinking about this for a long time. I need to thin out all my treasures and clean off shelves and make it less..just less. It would probably make it really easy to do a style shot if I had a flat surface that did not have 40 things stacked on it!
When I got the light box it was for actually doing styled shots in a very minimalist way. The box is too small to do much but seeing what some of the other participants in the class have done has given me ideas for using the box. Some of the others are having a hard time with this also...and like me, they are mostly nature photographers!
Have a great weekend!
