Serendipity

It's amazing...

...what a Brompton can be coerced into carrying if you put your mind to it.

New tyres for Malcolm the Multicharger, you can see him wearing his new boots in the extra, had to be picked up from the post office in the village this morning.

I lost confidence in the Schwalbe Big Ben tyres that were fitted after a thorn puncture on Wednesday coming home from work. I've used Schwalbe Marathon Plus on nearly all the utility bikes for years, so it was time to swap out the tyres on Malcolm. With the onset of autumn and dark nights approaching the last thing you want to contemplate is a long walk home due to a puncture so a bit more weight and bit more rolling resistance are well worth it in my book. Unfortunately, they don't come in sizes as big as the balloon tyres I removed so we now have a bit of mudguard gappage and a slightly changed ride height but the geometry remains the same. Plus it doesn't look quite as burly as before!

Ps the eagle eyed amongst you might spot that its not Electric Eric carrying the tyres, he's in for an annual service and this is the 'courtesy' Brompton Electric from On Your Bike in Birmingham. A long way to travel for a service but John the mechanic is a Brompton wizard and I wouldn't trust Eric anywhere else or with anyone else.
