Quarry Bank Mill
Beautiful sunny warm day today. After I'd done some window cleaning at Hayley's - Always very satisfying - until the low sun shines on them and shows up all the streaks!
We then all headed off to Quarry Bank Mill, what an amazing place and beautiful gardens. I intend to make a return visit at some stage in the future. It's only about 4 miles from Hayley's house. Apparently one of the best preserved textile mills of the Industrial Revolution and now a museum of the cotton industry. When you stand and look at this beautiful building and surrounding gardens you can't help but wonder at the hard toil of the workers all those years ago, but the mill was notable for the innovative approach to labour relations. This is going on my bucket list, the Industrial Revolution is one of the subjects I was always fascinated by at school.
Lovely pub lunch sat in the warm sun rounded off the outing perfectly.
