Happy Bells

I wanted to go up Mount Faber which is the highest point on Singapore, and where the cable car goes to, however Alan doesn't like cable cars so we walked, up a lot of steps!  I had originally planned to go on our wedding anniversary next Wednesday to ring the bells of happiness, but we decided that it would be too much of a rush as tomorrow we're heading to the Indonesian island of Bintan where we're staying until Wednesday.  We'll only get back to Singapore about 2pm and we have our dinner booked for 6pm followed by cocktails at Raffles, so there's no way we'd make it there and back in time.

We caught the MRT to Harbour Front and then walked the Marang Trail up to Faber Point, at this point my hair still looked acceptable for a photo, however there was a wedding taking place right under the bells!  We hung around for a while, but decided to carry on with our walk and come back to ring the bell later.  So we set off on the Southern Ridges Trail which turned into a bit of a nightmare walk, It was cloudy but very humid.  The trail went up and down lots of hills and I started to get concerned that if we went too far I wouldn't be able to make it back up to the top so reluctantly we turned round.  I was hot, sweaty and quite grumpy as I felt like I'd made the wrong decision and we should have gone to the Chinese & Japenese Gardens which were the other choice for the day.  However, we made it back and were able to ring the bell albeit not looking very glamorous lol!    We then walked back down the hill to the MRT and headed back to the hotel to chill out and pack our cases, ready for our onwards adventure tomorrow.

Tonight has been fantastic, we went to Parkview Avenue, the art deco building I blipped yesterday, in the hope of having a drink, but they had a waiting list of 45 minutes for a table!  We decided to leave it and headed to Kampong Glam for a curry and what a great night it was.  They were holding the final of 'Glam Voice' which was singing competition - there were a panel of 'famous' Singapore judges and there was a prize of $1,000.  The atmosphere was brilliant and when it came to the final three, I worked my way to the front with my camera and stood with all the other photographers, and no-one seemed to be concerned that I was there.

On our way home we called into Parkview Square again, but it was the same story and people were still queuing to get in, so we walked back down to Chijmes and had a Singapore Sling.  We were both tired by the end of the night, but it's been memorable!

Anyway, we're signing out of Singapore for now, we'll see you in Indonesia :-)
