The building behind the razor wire barricade belongs to the church which is on the left as one looks at Carlile House. I have blipped the building before; and before the barricades were put up. I guess it was a response to the occasional use of the building by those who wanted somewhere to sleep out of the weather, or had other reasons for wanting to trespass.
New Zealand has enacted legislation to hold organisations and individuals responsible if they "allow" access to a site that could be dangerous. This building is certainly being left to fall apart, and floors may collapse. Just having warning signs is not good enough. Therefore (I presume), the razor wire, which in fact is much more likely to inflict potentially lethal injuries than poor old Carlile House.
A rather ignominious end for what began as a glorious example of charitable intent. A place for boys to be while getting training in trades for example. Still, the plants are doing their best to soften the threat of the wire.
