The Birthday Girl...

This little Bubba has been an absolute star today.

We were slightly later in getting to Andrew and Nikki's for Esme's first birthday party as we'd forgotten all the roads around Gleneagles are closed due to the Solheim Cup being played there (all over now and Europe won!  Yay!)  

It's been funny watching the tournament on the tv knowing it's all taking place at the top of the road.  It's also bizarre to watch the aerial shots and recognise everywhere.  I am so glad the weather was better today and the surrounding area could be seen in all it's glory.  If we had wanted to, we could have rented the house out for the duration of the tournament for a ridiculous amount of money  (I know a lady who has rented her house out for a week and has been paid enough to allow her to stay at Gleneagles for the week and book a holiday to Australia!! ) If the tournament had just been a week later we would have been in the outer Hebrides and Alan and the team could have offered B&B!  ;-)))

But back to Esme...we arrived at Andrew & Nikki's just after 2pm to be greeted by the birthday girl in a pink tutu and crown.  Natch :-))  

We had a brilliant afternoon with family and friends and Esme was a star the whole time.  Laughing, chatting away in her gobbled-gook way, waving, clapping, giving out lots of cuddles and kisses and laughing and smiling non-stop!

Thankfully Ele made it back from Spain.  Her flight landed in Glasgow at 1pm, she raced home for a quick change of clothes, then she and Kenny arrived just after 3pm.  Phew!

We headed home just after 5.30pm, getting lots of kisses and ta-ta's from Esme as we left.

I've included a photo of my millionaire's shortbread as it was a star today too!  ;-))  Lynne's recipe is fab as it tasted just like my mum's used to.  Kenny was the only one who wasn't 100% sure about the quality and had to have four slices just to make sure he was happy with it.  I am pleased to say he gave it a massive thumbs up just before he slipped into a sugar coma!  :-)))
