Molly Kool Master Mariner

Last day in Canada. Tomorrow we fly home and bid our travel companions a goodbye. Today we drove from Moncton along the western coast of the bay of Fundy stopping. to appreciate the power of the tides in this area.

Our journey culminated in Alma, New Brunswick, a small fishing port where after doing making photos we encountered the Molly Kool Centre.
I made a few photographs and found the centre closed.

Doing some googling, I discovered that Myrtle 'Molly' Kool (February 23, 1916 – February 25, 2009)[2][3] was a Canadian sea captain. She is recognized as being one of the first North American registered female sea captains or ship master.[4] She was the first female Master Mariner in Canada. I find the story of this little known woman and her achievements, considering the times and obstacles she must have overcome, fascinating.
