The Monkton Icarus

I had a special request by Art UK to go to Prestwick Airport this morning to get some pictures of this Andy Scott (Kelpies) sculpture.

I've driven past it (round the roundabout) before,  but hadn't ever had time to study it until today.  I really can't quite make out why some people thought it was a statue of former Celtic foorballer, John Hartson!

The airport itself has been trending in the news a lot recently . There are a few stories including the fact that the US military often refuel there and apparently some of the crew have been staying at nearby Trump Turnberry Hotel and Golf Course.   And of course questions are being asked about who profits from that.

The Airport itself is currently up for sale having been bailed out by the Scottish Government and still running at a loss.
