Making myself at home

After an initial reluctance to bond with us, Merlin has been making himself at home these past few days.  He seems to have now decided we are acceptable company compared to the dogs he has been playing with at the kennels for the past week.  Although for good measure he decided to test us by eating a dead mouse whilst on his walk this afternoon.

I've got the week off work so have been pottering getting jobs done at home and the allotment.  I sowed some spinach and repotted my horse radish, we also popped to the local saw mill so I could purchase some poles to use at the allotment to create an extended support for the two vines I have growing.

The holiday seems slightly distant now, even though we have only been home for three days.  This time last week we were picnicking overlooking the Bordeaux vineyards.  As well as the peaceful villages and countryside a highlight of the holiday was the interesting people we met at our accommodation.  They included a Canadian couple who were cycling around different parts of France and a young couple from Germany.  It was such a delight to compare and learn something of their lives, of one another's countries and cultures, to listen to their perceptions of Britain and Brexit, and to share information on local restaurants and places to visit.

Hoping your day has been a good one.
