Santuario BV del Soccorso

We walked up to the Santuario up the hill from our apartment. It is actually in the next village but overlooks us from high above on the hill. The sign say the Santuario is at 493 metres above sea level, which is about 300 Mtrs above our apartment.

It is not such a long walk, I think only a mile or so. It is far above us though and some of the path is very steep. Along the path leading to the Santuario are a series of 14 small chapels each related to part of the life of Christ. I did not realise until we were back at the apartment that this is a UNESCO listed site.

Superb views from the top looking down on Lenno. Much to the relief of those making the ascent there is a small trattoria next to the Sanctuary. Here we were able to have some refreshment before returning home.
