New York, New York
Backblipping our New York trip
First day of our short break in New York. After a slightly earlier rise than normal and a relatively painless direct flight, we were in the heart of NYC by 14.00 and raring to go exploring.
It was a sunny but cold, dry day - perfect for walking around. We knew we were close to Times Square but we stumbled upon it very quickly and realised it was right on our doorstep.
We decided to head up the Rockefeller Centre at dusk so we could see the cityscape in daylight and at night. We were spoilt for choice with the pictures we took up there but thought this one showed the city at it's best. If you look closely in the top right you can see the Statue of Liberty in the distance but the Empire State Building dominates!
The rest of the day was spent getting our bearings, taking in all the spectacular Christmas decorations, locating our nearest Christmas market and visiting Grand Central Terminal. This busy pace didn't let up for the next few days!
