braeburn apples

Earlier this year I planted a small apple tree,  and I am amazed that it has now got two large apples on it. They look like they are about to snap the branches. 

I am not a gardener and I have no idea when they will be ready to eat. Advice would be appreciated. How many apples can I expect to get next year and what can I do to help the tree along?
