Pattie's is Closing
Another rainy day, but not so much to keep nhc* and me from walking to see the nearby Belmont goats and the shops and sights of St Johns. She was up from the Bay Area for a few days and took the #44 out here for lunch and the walks.
It's always good to see nhc, and if you check out her post from today, you'll see one of her Street Corner Series, this one of the soon to close Pattie's Home Plate. One of the scenes in 'Mr. Holland's Opus' shows this corner and the bench where these women sit.
"The '50s-style joint—part diner, part rummage sale, part sock hop—has long been more than just a place to grab a burger and a root beer float. The location has gotten its fair share of attention on both the big and small screen: the former Rexall drugstore was the backdrop of a pivotal part in the 1995 film Mr. Holland's Opus, and also starred alongside Ed Begley, Jr. in Portlandia's second season finale."
