Silver & Gold

"Make new friends but keep the old
one is silver and the other is gold."

I learned this round in 1965 when I was a Girl Scout with Troop 596. We'd sing the first stanza on the bus as we rode to our campsite. I wasn't quite certain at the age of eleven that I approved of the differentiation of friends, but as the years rolled on, I could certainly see the value of the song. Blessings on all my friends, both gold and silver!
