Supreme Court - where decisions are made.

The Supreme Court is the final court of appeal in the U.K. for civil cases throughout Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland (and for criminal cases from England, Wales and Northern Ireland).

Two civil cases of greatest public or constitutional importance affecting the whole population started here today. They’re to do with the prorogation of the U.K. Westminster Parliament by the Prime Minister -

R (on the application of Miller) (Appellant) v The Prime Minister (Respondent)

AND

Cherry and others (Respondents) v Advocate General for Scotland (Appellant) (Scotland)

We’ve followed the Cherry case during proceedings in Edinburgh. We were nearby in Westminster today and couldn’t resist checking out the media and public interest. It was interesting to see folks jostle for position, whether they be protesters or international media.
