RCAF Memorial Tewit Hall Wood, Oakworth

I had the honour today to play the Last Post at the Memorial to the six Royal Canadian Air Force Air Crew that were lost on a training flight on the 2 January 1944 when their Wellington Bomber crashed.

The Lord Mayor of Bradford was there, as was the Deputy Lieutenant of Yorkshire Richard Jackson and a representative from the Royal Canadian Air Force., and several other dignatories, but more importantly around 50 bystanders walked up a very muddy lane to witness the ceremony. How comforting to know that 69 years on those 6 young lives, lost thousands of miles away from their families, have not been forgotten.
