Carved menhirs

One of the reasons I wanted to revisit Corsica was to look at some of the archaeology. Only discovered in the 1960s, Filotosa is one of the signature sites of the island and almost unique in the Mediterranean. Although pulled down by later pre-Roman invaders, the carved menhirs survived and were incorporated into the walls of the towers of the next culture. Many, including this one, have been resurrected and make quite a spectacle.
The day started however with a stroll around the weird rock formations in Les Calanches and then the pleasures of reversing almost a kilometre to let a Dutch coach pass by - quite what it was doing on such  a road I am not sure. Grrr.
The campsite was not quite as spectacular as last nights although the two infinity pools were impressive.
