199 steps and Runswick Bay

Finally mase it to Whitby 
Parked on the headland by the Abbey and the view over the town was stunning in the sunshine. Aimed to go down the 1999 steps but somehow ended up going down the side.. the donkey path.. smooth cobbles and steep.  
Unfortunately the sunshine brought out lots of people and the narrow old streets were extremely busy.
In the afternoon we went to Runswick Bay. The road down to the car Park was extremely steep but there were paces to park and wow the Bay is wonderful.... much longer beach than I expected. We loved it and it was good to see dogs were allowed.. sadly not the case on all Yorkshires beaches.  A lovely antidote to the crowded Whitby . 
Sadly this photo doesn't do it justice . The sand was much lighter and softer .. but has to be a basic download today
