Make Every Day Memorable

Sunrise at Teignmouth

For once I was wide awake before daylight so decided to take the two spaniels and Cas down to the beach for their morning walk.
They couldn't disguise their delight and while I was taking a few shots of the sunrise, they tore around the sand chasing each other with joyful barks.
Luckily no one lives near to this part of the beach and there were only a few other dog walkers to enjoy the first light, so I let them carry on.
I had an a plan to wear them out so I could escape for a couple of hours while they slept off their breakfast.
Off to the Powderham Estate again.
I'm keeping a close eye on the rising testosterone levels of the Fallow Deer stags in the hope that I might witness some rutting behaviour.
But today they were all claiming that they had a headache and were keeping well in the shadows of the trees.
One doe did venture towards me for her photo but it wasn't very inspiring.
Heading back to the car I noticed about a dozen herons standing like soldiers on parade next to a small stream. As I watched them another flew down from a large tree nearby and I was astounded to count another five in the branches, along with 3 cattle egrets.
The 'lookout' who was in the uppermost branch of the tree has made it into extras, purely for my record.
Apparently, an osprey has been seen in the vicinity this week so I might have a repeat visit tomorrow.
