Alphabet Bridge
Alphabet Bridge sits astride the channel that connects Worsley Delph to the main Bridgewater Canal.
It gets its name from the local legend that school teachers taught children the letters of the alphabet using the 26 planks which make up its length.
It has just reopened after being refurbished, and is looking good. And just to make the point about how it got it’s name, each plank is now lettered.
Which makes it possible to play photographic scrabble. As demonstrated here.
