Still Warsaw clings on despite the dead lying unburied in the streets. After all why should they surrender, they can expect no mercy from their enemies? It would seem to be as well not to be alive when the city falls.

Meanwhile news comes of revolts in Slovakia and Bohemia, and the German Freedom Party continues to broadcast despite the Gestapo.

The general situation seems to be confused: the quiet on the Western Front is rather like the lull before the storm. How soon will the storm break?
