The Big One
Day 3 in Blackpool - the weather has been quite magnificent - not a cloud in the sky all day.
We started with Breakfast at the Pier Cafe in St. Annes on Sea (see extra 1), then called to see a private Model and Toy collection (a Heritage Open Day event - see extra 2).
Blackpool Pleasure Beach was our next stop (they were offering free admission for Heritage Week.......) and Mrs MD was enjoying the action.
I found out that, for £55, you could have an escorted climb up the 420 steps to the top of The Big One (used to be called The Pepsi-Max). This would take you up to 235 ft above sea level.
What a shame it was fully booked for the rest of 2019 :-) :-) :-)
I don't know how they fit all these White Knuckle rides into such a confined space - it's a master piece of design ability (extra 3).
It was a really wonderful day - and to see so many people out and about, enjoying themselves in the sunshine was indeed a rare treat. The young boy in extra 4 was having great fun in the Dancing Water Fountains.
