Global Climate Strike
I took today off to join the kids and protest with them for system change and against climate change. It was quite amazing, there were so many people of all ages, from very young to quite old. Although, it has to be said that the kids had the best chants and attitude towards chanting. I marched with my union (see extra) who supports the action. Rowan came along and met lots of people on the way. This was certainly one of the biggest protests I have seen in Edinburgh, only the ant Iraq war protest was probably bigger. The spirit was great, undoubtedly helped by the rather fine weather. It is quite crazy to think that on an individual level the glorious sunshine at the end of September in Scotland is absolutely lovely and enjoyable but at the same time that is exactly what is wrong with the system on a global level. We didn't hang out for very long after the march and wandered back into town to grab some lunch. We wanted to nip into the bookshop but unfortunately that was closed today in support of the strike. Good on them, I will go back another day.
