The Mayor's annual review

The position of Mayor in France is very important and powerful.
Every year our mayor gives a presentation, a review of the past year and a forecast of things to come. This is he, on stage with all the town councillors, and with a picture of our small town behind him, with our lake in the foreground and the Jura mountains behind.
It was standing room only, so over 2000 inhabitants present, about 25% of the total population. Maybe the promise of sparkling wine and canapes afterwards helped swell the numbers, but not by much.....
