Beside State Highway 1 near Puhoi

This structure, with two others which are somewhat less photogenic, Have appeared in recent months. They are arising out of a mangrove swamp on the western side of SH1 just north of the tunnels at the northern end of the Motorway Extension.

They will carry the next northward extension of the motorway which will go a little over 15 km north to the western side of Warkworth. We stopped on the side of the road while heading north this morning to see S' cousin and check on the progress with the repairs to the water-damaged parts of the beach house.

Had I decided to leave taking the photo until we were coming back, that would have been a big failure, as a"serious INCIDENT" had occurred not long before we set off to return, and had closed the road. We trekked acroos country from the east coast at Snells Beach to the West Coast at Helensville, and thence back to Auckland. A slow, and scenic, trip. 

Glad to be back safely

(Late added info. SH1 remains closed to traffic as Police investigate a possible serious crime. Meaning that traffic has been diverted for just over five hours already.
