HSBC Let’s Ride
Not such a lazy day today. Up at the crack of dawn to overly ‘glow’ in the gym, and then recover with a celebratory birthday (not mine)coffee with a neighbour setting me up nicely for a postal service on two wheels to deliver a birthday card to another birthday friend on the outer reaches of the district before joining the HSBC Let’s Ride event taking place in the Meadows.
Apart from all the cycling things going on at base camp, there was a circular route on closed roads round by George IV Bridge, the High Street, Johnstone Terrace, and Lady Lawson Street, ideal for the plethora of mini cyclists out on the smallest of wheels with their parents. It makes for a bit of an obstacle course for the rest of us though, because although they can cycle, they don’t seem to want to do it in a straight line so you never know when one of the little midgets is suddenly going to cycle across your path. It make life interesting especially when cycling uphill.
I managed all of this before the inevitable rain arrived and am happy now to potter about inside and watch the umbrellas outside. It’s been one of the speedier weekends.......at least so far.
