Desert Island Discs
Another windy start to the day so after listening to George Clooney on desert island discs I compiled my own while down on the beach:
The Jam - strange town
The first song that made me get into music and set me along a certain path
Springsteen - the river
never a huge fan but blown away by the best ever live show
Elvia Costello - what’s so funny about peace love and understanding
Costello & Weller informed my moral and political compass and got me interested in social decency
Prefab sprout - hey Manhattan
Paddy is a master pop poet, this one was on loop on my travels across America
Van Morrison - have I told you lately
a real troubadour and a fab song that’s provided valentine card messages over a long period
The Coral - dreaming of you
my go to dance record, a real floor filler and many happy memories
Snow patrol - run
not a stadium fan but this was my stadium singalong and a timeless tune
Admiral Fallow - four bulbs
after a period in the music wilderness AF made me believe again, in great gigs and songs to cherish
Frightened Rabbit - die like a rich boy
a band and music I loved from their beginning to their sad end...I’ll always have their music
Book - and the land lay still
my fav book of all time and a good read on a desert island to remind myself of my homeland and life
Item - French knife
handy for all sorts of things including making me feel safe
