Highland Ramble, Day 6
Back-blip.
Yesterday we travelled east into Glenfinnan, and stopped at the Monument. It was busy. But, amazingly, as I was standing on the shore taking pictures up the loch, this young stag emerged from the water and calmly trotted through the shallows. He went up onto the bank and sauntered away browsing lichen from the scrubby trees without taking much notice of the dozens of onlookers.
We continued on to Corpach and stopped beside the Canal basin to make lunch. Along came the steam train, the Jacobite, aka the Harry Potter/Hogwarts Express. I have to say it was not in the same class as the Flying Scotsman, and there was no plume of white, maybe they save that for when they are crossing the Glenfinnan Viaduct?
Through Glencoe and over onto the shores of Loch Tay, where the satnav led us astray, up a very narrow private road with no passing or turning places. Fortunately we didn't meet any other vehicles and were able to turn in the drive of a spooky-looking mansion.
Eventually we found our resting place and here we are on the last morning of our trip, looking forward to a walk by the water before we head for the city.
