Bateaux de Erde

A leisurely walk into town along the Erde, admiring the collection of historic barges. Main pic and extra of a Bateau Lavoir or washboat. This one functioned as a laundry until c.1950; the last one on the river in Nantes closed in 1968. Bit wet and gloomy today but I loved the raindrops on the camellia. Afternoon in the Jules Verne museum - he was born here. The most amazing exhibit for me was a letter dated 1969 from
NASA to his grandson, extolling the inspiration and prescience of detail in Verne’s fiction foreseeing the actual journey to the moon.
