Spitfire

There are two Premier Inns across the road from each other in Stafford. One is called Spitfire and the other is Hurricane. One of the roads to them is named after Captain John Perrin, an American fighter ace who died when his Mustang crashed near here. When the plane developed a fault he stayed with it to steer it away from the local schools and villages rather than ejecting.
