Amongst the leaves

A happy moment when I came across this in the leaf mulch as I thought they had all gone. It used to look like this, and although now it is considerably smaller I propped it up against a tree to continue decaying in full public view.

Perhaps they haven't all been nicked after all, and are in parts of the woods that I don't walk in so much. That's my optimistic idea for the New Year.
