Southern Stem Canker Fungus!

Disaster for our farmer! His entire soybean field is destroyed. His crop was infected with Southern Stem Canker fungus. Just a few days ago the plants were doing very well. He said that it was his best crop ever. In all his years of farming he has never lost a crop, this was his first time. The county agriculture agents came out to investigate and they sent samples to the University of Maryland Agricultural Research Center for analysis. His other fields are ok, it is just these two fields that are infected. These are his biggest fields and it is a huge financial loss for him.

Last week there were lots of deer in the field, including three bucks with big racks.. Our son was hunting there but now the deer are gone.
