photojournalism centre, Perpignan.
we went into Perpignan today. Having missed the Visa Pour l'Image this year by a few days (it was still being dismantled in some sites) we decided to go to the Photojournalism Centre which has year round exhibitions and an interesting looking library . The exhibition shown was of photos of Dina Vierney (who was the muse for Maillol and a number of other artists) taken by a French photographer, Pierre Jamet. They were an interesting set of images showing the carefree days of Dina (who was Jewish) and others just before the war. You can't help wondering what happened to them but Dina survived , despite a period of working for the resistance by escorting refugees across the Pyrenees into Spain and two arrests by the Nazis , and lived until age 90.
