Causeway to the Brough of Birsay
Back blip
A fairly lazy morning reading my book about a year in the life of an Orkney Doctor on Eday ‘Close to where the heart gives out’.
We went out mid morning and went to Harray Potters shop.We bought a few little bits and pieces. On to an RSPB hide looking for hen harriers. It was very windy and the rain was not far away but it was cosy in the hide but nothing spotted. I hid the stone I found in the Udale hide next to the lovely mural.
Feeling hungry we went in search of food. We were going to the animal sanctuary but it was not open. On to Birsay where we were hoping the Teashop would be open but not on a Tuesday. lucky really as we ended up having a really good take away soup from the shop.We drove to the carpark near the causeway and enjoyed it watching the huge waves.
Out for a walk as the sun peeped through.Beautiful stones and shells so colourful. We sat in the sun looking at the views towards the Kitcheners monument at Marwick Head.
The farmers are busy in the fields still, lots of gulls flying close to the tractors.
We went to the Birsay moor bird hide next, not much around again.Fine views over Evie and interesting to be so close to the wind turbines.
We stopped at Kirkwall and had a fish supper. The sun was still shining over the Peedie Sea.
