Tony and Mo
I mostly needed to be at home today, but did slip off for an hour to the St Cross Michaelmas Fair. I rather love it because - as well as the beautiful place - the stalls sell handmade/plastic-free craft gifts and toiletries (deodorant in cardboard tubes, anyone?) plus juice, jams and chutneys made with their garden produce by the old Brothers who live there.
And Falconhigh always come to show off their lovely owls and hawks.
This Harris hawk is Mo (yes, as Robin says below, Mo Hawk - haha!). As usual, when I arrived Mo had gone AWOL. He does it every year. This meant Tony couldn't fly the owls because Mo would have preyed on them.
Luckily the birds wear a tracker. Mo was traced to a pub garden a mile or so away. If I've got the story right, when he saw them coming to pick him up he hopped into the nextdoor garden, whose owner then refused to allow the handlers in to retrieve him.
Here is Tony quietly chastising Mo. That relationship between hawk and handler - fascinating, don't you think?
So that's enough from me. Thank you all so very much for the stars and hearts yesterday. What a very kind and caring community you are.
And enjoy the rest of your weekend xx
