The Missionary Rosary.
This is a Missionary Rosary with guide, and it is available from Comboni Missionaries, Brownberrie Lane, Leeds, LS18 5HE.
I love the rosary as it has five different colours for each of the Continents. No one is forced to say the Rosary. It can honestly seem arduous and requires unselfishness, patience and perseverance. I am not by any means perfect at saying it and realise it is a spiritual weapon with more value than I can fully understand. There are spiritual virtues attached to each mystery, focussing on the life of Jesus. The plastic beads are in my opinion, beautiful. It would be a useful present but NOT for very young children as the map of Africa is sharp metal. The prayers need
time set aside to pray and meditate on the sacred Mysteries, and yes, it is repetitive. The value of it, is Mother Mary loves our respectful and prayerful devotion in a world where it seems like swimming against the tide! The spiritual battle is real, as both an inner battle, and in simple terms it is Heaven versus Hell, the kingdom of God against the Kingdom of Satan. It does open your awareness to the hidden reality of a spiritual dimension. St Daniel Comboni lived from 1831- 1881, and he worked tirelessly spreading the Gospel in Africa, and helping the poorest and most abandoned of the Earth. I am in awe of Jesus, and any admirable saint who walked their faith talk, humbly and wholeheartedly.
